What’s next for Adrian Yanez and Vinicius Salvador after UFC Vegas 92?5 months ago
Adrian Yanez eyes fights against unranked opponents post-UFC Vegas 92; Vinicius Salvador's UFC future looks uncertain after another defeat.

Adrian Yanez defeated Vinicius Salvador via first-round TKO at UFC Vegas 92. Yanez was on a two-fight losing streak going into the fight and similar was the case for Salvador. Yanez had steam before his consecutive losses, as he was on a 5-fight winning streak, all winning post-fight bonuses. On the other hand, Salvador had never won in the UFC after an impressive performance in
Dana White’s Contender Series.

What’s next for Adrian Yanez?

Yanez seems not too keen to jump into the rankings as he called out for fights against John Castadena, Daniel Marcos, Daniel Santos, or Victor Henry. He did express his interest in fighting any of the mentioned fighters at the Las Vegas Sphere at UFC 306. The Texan native was a top-15 bantamweight before the losses to Jonathan Martinez and Rob Font forced him out of the rankings.

Since Yanez is intent on fighting fighters outside the rankings, either Castadena, Marcos, Santos, or Henry could potentially be next for the Amercian. However, there is another bantamweight available to fight -Alateng Heili who defeated Kleydson Rodrigues via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 92. Another potential opponent is Cody Garbrandt, the ex-UFC bantamweight champion.

What’s next for Vinicius Salvador?

Salvador’s first two losses in the UFC were via decision but against Yanez, he was brutally knocked out. The Brazilian was defeated by Victor Altamirano dominantly but was robbed against CJ Vergara in his second fight. Nonetheless, his next fight will potentially be the last on his contract. If he doesn’t make a stellar performance, he will likely be cut from the promotion. Salvador got the opportunity to fight on the main card at UFC Vegas 92 but his next fight will likely be on the prelims.

Salvador should not be fighting somebody on the UFC roster right now. What he should be doing is fighting a UFC debutant, presumably one who got into the UFC through the Contender Series. Moreover, he should go down to flyweight as he was noticeably at a size disadvantage against Yanez. All signs point to UFC releasing Salvador but his future remains to be seen.
